Three Mile Trail Professional Review and Guide

"If you’ve got a taste for technical challenges, welcome to Flavor Country! Technical riding at its best for the hard-core, singletrack, hammerhead rider. With over 4 miles of some of the burliest riding in Pennsylvania, you’ll be thankful that it’s only a 10-mile loop. The location is prime mountain bike country, and folks flock from all around to test their mettle in the beautiful Michaux State Forest. “Unforgiving” and “relentless” are the best words to describe this classic route. From the trailhead, you immediately climb the super-steep “Chainbreak” hill, which has claimed many a chain.

Gasping for air, you confront Grave Ridge with its heinous spine of rock. As its name implies, Grave Ridge is a ridge-top trail that is littered with rocks resembling tombstones. If you look close enough you may find the names of a few riders who didn’t survive this section scrawled on the stones! A few prayers and some dialed riding may be your only hope to pass over Grave Ridge. Highlights: some of the most technical riding in Pennsylvania, enduro bike singletrack, the infamous Grave ridge, 920-foot climb, scenic Pine Grove Furnace State Park nearby with swimming, concessions, boat and bike rental dock climbing."

Not a very rewarding trail as for scenic views or much flat or downhill singletrack. The entire trip was very exhausting and took nearly 3 hours with trying to navigate. Very tricky ride and wouldn't recommend it unless you plan on falling or preparing for a great cardio workout. Roughly 7 miles is uphill and very tiring and the last 2 miles is a dangerous downhill gravel road. About 15% was rewarding and enjoyable downhill tracks. Be prepared to walk!
