Washington Crossing Historic Park

Washington Crossing Historic Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"On this moderate hike you walk the same trail that General George Washington and his Continental Army walked to get to the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River, where they boarded sturdy cargo boats and made their way to the New Jersey side. Of course, you will cross the river on a bridge, then get on a causeway that takes you to higher ground and back on Washington’s trail, which is called the Continental Lane Trail.

The trail then enters the forest, where you walk alongside a stream until the trail ends in the park and you turn around and follow the stream through the forest before you make a short uphill climb to return to where you got on the Continental Trail. From this point you retrace your steps back to the visitor center."
