Greenwood Furnace State Park

Greenwood Furnace State Park Professional Review and Guide

"This is simply a great hike. It starts in a restored nineteenth-century village that was once the company town for Greenwood Furnace IronWorks. The entire village has been designated a National Historic District.

Old wagon roads and tramway trails lead hikers through the village and into the surrounding mountains, where the remains of charcoal pads can still be seen. There are visits to a historic cemetery and a pristine mountain lake, and, believe it or not, there’s even a top-notch view. Bring your camera and your children on this one."
