Mountain View Trail Professional Review and Guide
"The setting for this ride is in the Laurel Highlands cross-country ski trail system, which is an incredible network of well-maintained, wooded trails on state forest land. This is a spectacular ride for the adventurous novice as well as the hard-core hammerhead. The ski trails are relatively wide and the summer mountain bike traffic has started to carve a nice singletrack into the grassy surface. The best thing about these trails is that the state forest service encourages mountain biking on them to help keep vegetation down. This results in less maintenance work for the trail crew folks who already do an outstanding job of maintaining this awesome trail system. Location: 12 miles west of Somerset. Highlights: beautiful mountain and valley ride, a ski hut available to mountain bikes, remote with very little traffic, many wildlife viewing opportunities. Tread: majority of the ride is on some of the most beautiful grassy singletrack in the state, with a few sections of old jeep road doubletrack."
