Even though it is close to a metropolitan area in the north, Lackawanna provides great camping and loads of other recreation. Although it is located only 10 miles from the busy Scranton-Wilkes-Barre area, Lackawanna State Park is a surprisingly quiet and serene place to visit. The park is quite large, 1,411 acres, and it has many hiking trails, a beautiful 200-acre lake, and a campground with several appealing walk-in tent areas.
