The Middle Delaware River region, which stretches for 40 miles between Stroudsburg and Milford, Pennsylvania, is a recreational area for those who enjoy hiking, canoeing, swimming, photographing a series of views around each bend of the river, and exploring the many waterfalls on tributary streams along the way. Since the 1960s the government has been developing this area for recreation. The river runs through a narrow valley, with the Kittatinny Mountains on one side and the Poconos on the other, producing the gorge and the natural beauty of rushing waters at Delaware Water Gap. The name Pocono may have been derived from the Indian Pocohanne, which means “A River between Mountains.” The region is close to both New York City and Philadelphia, so it’s easily accessible for day trips and getaway weekends. There’s an abundance of resorts to suit any taste or style. This eTrail has everything you need to plan a travel experience in Delaware Water Gap and the Poconos and includes details on Delaware Water Gap, the Pocono Mountains, and Scranton.

The trail was in good condition. The incline was quite steep at times and can be difficult if you're carrying supplies. Trail markings and signs were not always clear or accurate. However, the area is incredible and certainly worth a visit.
