Shawnee State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"As with any park that has a lake as big as Shawnee’s 451-acre impoundment, opportunities to fish and boat are the big draw. The lake is home to largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleyes, catfish, and panfish. And there’s some fine paddling here if you like to canoe or kayak. Only electric motors are permitted, so the water is calm and pleasant.
But don’t overlook hiking in the park. Sixteen miles of trails wind through woods that are especially beautiful in fall. White- tailed deer and turkeys are commonly seen, as are all manner of songbirds. Check out the park’s disc golf course too. The nine hole course has some challenges, including one hole that involves going up and over a hill."
