Raccoon Creek State Park: Lake-Forest Loop Trail Professional Review and Guide
"This loop explores both lakeside and uplandforest habitats. On a hot day, the trail near the lake can be muggy and a little buggy; the second portion has some hill climbing. Bring your swimsuit for a refreshing dip in the lake after the hike. At 7,572 acres, Raccoon Creek State Park is one of the largest state parks in Pennsylvania. It began in the 1930s as the Raccoon Creek National Recreation Demonstration Area, created by the National Park Service and developed with sweat equity from the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Works Progress Administration (WPA). These groups built some of the still-existing recreation facilities and provided conservation planning and labor."
