Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"If you’re interested in history, this loop hike through Oil Creek State Park is all that you could ask for. It winds through the area that was the site of the world’s first oil well. Numerous remnants of that era—including everything from oil-stained barrels to building foundations to pipelines and old shacks—still remain, left in the woods wherever they fell when the people of the boomtowns gone bust packed up and left overnight.

Portions of this hike are in areas open to hunting."
