Fort Pitt Museum and Point State Park

Fort Pitt Museum and Point State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Before there were airplanes, before there were trains, before there were vehicles, water was king. Nations looking to move goods and people used ships and rivers. It’s no wonder then that the “point” at Pittsburgh was so desirable that armies were willing to fight to control it.

Here, the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers meet to form the Ohio, which in turn flows into the Mississippi. That’s not changed. Nor has how this arrowhead-shaped piece of land is valued. But the reason for its popularity has."
