Menlo and Lenape Parks to Veterans Memorial

Menlo and Lenape Parks to Veterans Memorial Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"If you just want to relax and take time to check out the colorful butterfly bushes or soak up some local history— including an old-time amusement park complete with a carousel and a pair of famous bridges—or visit a veterans’ memorial and covered bridge, this easy hike along a peaceful stream is for you. Except for an optional steep climb up a dirt path to take in the Perkasie Carousel, this hike could be considered handicapped accessible.

This hike has a few surprises. At 0.5 mile you come upon a pair of cable suspension bridges—known originally as the Twin Bridges—that were built in 1936 as a project sponsored by the New Deal’s Work Project Administration. The bridges were based on the design that noted bridge designer John Roebling used in 1867 when he designed the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, and although he didn’t live to see the bridge completed in 1883, he became one of the most famous bridge designers of his era."
