Oil Creek State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"At first glance the oil barrels scattered throughout the woods appear to be giant rustic planters, like something you might find at a country craft store. They seem weathered, but in a chic kind of way. Get closer, though.
That’s when you can smell it. Oil. The barrels, blackened still by the crude petroleum that was pulled from the ground here more than 150 years ago, remain soaked through, as your nostrils will attest. You can feel it, too, if you touch their sides. They aren’t alone, though."
