High Knob Vista Professional Review and Guide
"This ride is situated on the eastern flanks on the Endless Mountains. The initial climb is one of the steepest and most direct in the state and gives special meaning to the word “endless.” It tackles 1,000 vertical feet in 2.3 miles. As long as you sit tight and keep the gears light, your heart may see you through another day. The ride mellows a bit as it skirts just below the vista, goes out on a wide loop, and returns to the summit of High Knob at 2,020 feet.
A great mountain view looking west over Hillsgrove is a welcome sight. Now you can look forward to a few miles of fast, paved and dirt road downhill ahead. Highlights: High Knob Vista, grueling hill climb with killer technical descent, great wildlife viewing (plenty o' rattlesnakes), whitewater boating on the Loyalsock Creek, close to Worlds End State Park and its amenities. Tread: grassy old woods and forest service fire roads cover the first half of the ride, with paved road covering the middle 2 miles. A great mix of singletrack and old woods roads finish out the last 4 miles."
