This driving tour explores nearly 46 miles of the southern shore of Lake Erie, passing through wine and Concord grape country and the port city of Erie. A 15-mile round-trip side excursion to Presque Isle completes the regional snapshot. Recognized as a National Natural Landmark, Presque Isle captivates with its beach and bay shores and dune and woods habitats and is considered one of the ten best birding sites in the United States. Special attractions: Access and views of Lake Erie; Presque Isle State Park; the U.S. brig Niagara; Erie Maritime Museum; lighthouses, piers, and waterfronts; charters and dinner cruises; wineries and vineyards; historic walking tours, hiking, fishing, swimming, birding.

The Mazza winery is pretty nice. Their ice wine is yummy. Its really wonderful, we are primarily tent campers from our car. There are tons of state parks along the way and this route is best seen from a car or even bike touring. The hiking trails along the Niagara offer some of the most amazing sites of the river imaginable (Devils Hole and Whirlpool State Parks). Sackets Harbor and the rest of the harbors and creeks that feed Lake Ontario are lovely. Avoid Rochester, its a sad shell of former self. Some of the Erie Canal features are pretty cool. Lockport is worth visiting, but a bit of a tourist trap. My four stars is for the entire Seaway Trail trip, not just Presque Isle to New York Border.
