Tumbling Waters Trail

Tumbling Waters Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This hike has everything. You start with a gentle stroll through a hardwood forest and pass through a pine plantation as the trail leads you to a picturesque lake. You then descend into a deep hemlock gorge to visit two torrential waterfalls. After the falls you visit the ruins of an old homestead and take in a panoramic view of the Delaware River Valley.

What is it about waterfalls that fascinates us? Is it the sheer power of the water cutting its way through solid rock only to tumble willy-nilly from one ledge to the next? Is
it the roar of the water that stops us in our tracks and turns a quiet forest into a place where you have to yell to be heard? Or do we identify with the water’s unmatched
tenacity as it continues its endless journey—day after day after day—as it has for thousands of years? Whatever it is, if you like to get up close and personal to major waterfalls that get your heart racing."

"This waterfall hike follows a nature trail looping through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, starting at the Pocono Environmental Education Center. Here you walk wooded uplands past ponds and along quiet wooded ridges before dropping to the stream of the Tumbling Waters. Here, a two-tiered waterfall fills an equally impressive plunge pool, while a longer, more inaccessible cataract spills just downstream. The hike then straddles a ridge, opening to an inspiring view of the Delaware Valley below. Stop by a lesser fall en route back to the trailhead." Read more

Was a fun hike. Not very challenging but incredibly peaceful. Due to hiking with young children the trail took longer than expected at about 2:40mins. We stopped for lunch at the waterfalls. It is a nice break area.the trails are well marked and maintained.
