Whitetail Ski Area Professional Review and Guide
"Situated 1,800 feet high on Two Top Mountain in south-central Pennsylvania’s Tuscarora Mountain range, Whitetail has served as a necessary alternative to the busy Washington, DC, and Baltimore ski scenes. Despite the mountain’s southern-exposed slopes and infrequent snowfall, the privately owned land was developed into a ski resort with two factors in its favor: 900-plus feet of vertical drop and proximity to two very profitable urban markets. The ski area changed hands a few years back to Snow Time, which also claims nearby Ski Liberty and Roundtop.
The resort has gone through some tough times financially, but Snow Time hopes to get things back on track. Plans are to develop the area into an all-seasons resort and ultimately broaden the trail network to 30 runs, occupying ample space on the mountain’s outer ridges. Located just miles past the north-central Maryland state line, Whitetail is primarily a day retreat, though it now has 30 slopeside town homes for rent or purchase. This eTrail contains a thorough description of the resort including driving directions, mountain statistics, trail profiles, extensive lodging & dining information, travel tips, and much more."
