Driving on 381 south from Ligonier offers the driver a chance to see some of the best Southwestern Pennsylvania has to offer. Aside from mountain scenery and roadside streams there are ski resorts offering everything from a good bite to eat (Seven Springs is famous for its sea food buffet and Nemacolin boasts the 4 star Lautrec's) to a chance for a weekend getaway. The southern end is where 381 really shines. Plan on spending a full day or even two at attractions such as Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, a world famous showcase of Wright's philosophy of making architecture blend seamlessly with nature built right over Bear Run, or Ohioyple State Park with it's many waterfalls, Class 3-4 whitewater river, and many miles of bike and hiking trails. Fall is when many people make their way into the Laurel Highlands as it is just off of the Pa Turnpike. There are many festivals in October when the leaves peak, one can eat their way from Ligonier to Ohiopyle. Just keep your eyes peeled for drivers too busy looking at leaves instead of the road.
