Ski Roundtop Ski Area Professional Review and Guide
"Roundtop was originally the brainchild of a group of ski-minded businessmen from the nearby town of York. For years they would make the long trek to carve Vermont’s formidable mountains. Hoping to establish a resort on one of the small plateaus in their own neck of the woods, the group knew they’d have to overcome the area’s often-mild winters. The resort could only operate with an advanced snowmaking system and a north-facing mountain. What they had going for them was demographics, with Baltimore just 75 miles away and Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York all within spitting distance.
Since opening in 1964 with just two slopes and a single chair lift, Roundtop has expanded to 15 runs and employs a powerful snowmaking system, and now has a family snowtubing area and a snowboard halfpipe. The same group that opened Roundtop’s slopes now claim Whitetail, New York’s Ski Windham, and nearby Ski Liberty, all under the name Snow Time, Inc. This eTrail contains a thorough description of the resort including driving directions, mountain statistics, trail profiles, extensive lodging & dining information, travel tips, and much more."
