Hawk Mountain Sanctuary

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"If you go to Penn State University’s Beaver Stadium in, say, oh, March, and somehow sneak in, you can pick the seat you want without any competition. Of course, there isn’t much to see either. The action comes on Saturdays in the fall, when the Nittany Lions are actually playing football. Then you’ll have to share the stadium with about 100,000 other folks.

So it is when hiking at Hawk Mountain. Visiting here in summer is nice. Very nice, in fact. The hike through the forest is lovely, offering the chance to see woodland birds and mammals from gray squirrels to white-tailed deer. Benches along Lookout Trail offer tranquil spots for reflection. And the views from the various overlooks are simply breathtaking."
