The park has a pleasant wooded character, and the creek is lined by tall hardwood trees and large hemlocks. Surrounded by the 215,000-acre Tiadaghton State Forest in north-central Pennsylvania, Ravensburg State Park is a small (72 acres), rustic, and quiet place to camp. The park lies in the bottom of a steep-sided valley along Rauchtown Run—a small creek that has carved the gap through the side of the colorfully named Nippenose Mountain. The park itself was named for the ravens that roost in the valley. The terrain surrounding Rauchtown Run is rocky and rugged, which has protected this section of the forest from any extensive logging. Consequently, the park has a pleasant wooded character, and the creek is lined by tall hardwood trees and large hemlocks.
