Charles F. Lewis Natural Area: Rager Mountain Trail Loop Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A steep initial hike affords views of waterfalls cascading down Clark Run and leads to a ridgeline walk through pretty forest. The final leg, a somewhat steep descent, includes some rock-to-rock stepping through a lovely boulder field.
This 384-acre natural area was named to honor Dr. Charles Fletcher Lewis for his extensive efforts in conservation. During his lifetime, Lewis was a teacher, newspaper editorial writer, first director of the Buhl Foundation, and president of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. Among the achievements the Buhl Foundation counted during Lewis’s time were the former Buhl Planetarium, Chatham Village, and the acquisition of many education and conservation grants."
