Yellow Springs Loop

Yellow Springs Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Cross Clark Creek just out of the parking area. Follow the Stone Tower Trail a short distance to an old roadbed and connector trail. Turn left and follow the road for a mile to the Sand Spring Trail. Head south, cross over Stony Mountain, and descend into upper Rausch Creek.

A short side trip takes you to the site of “The General,” an iron excavator used for digging gravel in the late 19th century. From Rausch Creek, follow the Appalachian Trail west to the Yellow Springs Trail. Head north to the Stone Tower ruins on Stony Mountain. Follow the Stone Tower Trail back to the parking area."

I suggest doing this trail in reverse of the guide. The steep portion of the trail is difficult to climb wearing a pack. I have been to the General several times, it's a must see only 10 minutes round trip from the trail.
