Round Head and Shikellamy Overlook

Round Head and Shikellamy Overlook Professional Review and Guide

"In addition to a nice walk in the woods, this day trip offers outstanding views of the valley to the south at the two overlooks. From the overlook on the south side of Round Head, a blue-blazed trail follows the remains of the Showers Steps (a series of several stone steps built into the hillside by Lloyd Showers) downhill until it ends at private property.

The hike starts out with some tramping over stone treads, which, in wetter years, help hikers navigate a bit of soggy ground. For a distance beyond the treads, the hiking is awkward, verging on unpleasant because the trail is extremely rocky, and many of the rocks are like little pyramids and blocks."
