Rausch Gap via Gold Mine Trail

Rausch Gap via Gold Mine Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This wonderful hike follows the Gold Mine Run drainage and makes a circuit around Sharp Mountain to its north. From the head of Gold Mine Run, descend into Rausch Gap, a water gap through Sharp Mountain, and join the Appalachian Trail (AT) near the Rausch Gap Shelter. From the shelter trail, follow the AT down to the Susquehanna Railroad Grade at the old town site of Rausch Gap, and then follow the grade east for 3 miles back to the car.

It is a rather long hike in the hills, but with the exception of a few short rocky sections, the trails are smooth and pleasant to walk on."
