Hawk Rock

Hawk Rock Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This steep and strenuous climb leads to outstanding views from Hawk Rock, which overlooks the Susquehanna and Juniata Rivers. There are also good views of Peters Mountain.

After crossing the Shermans Creek Bridge in Duncannon, find a parking space. The A.T. follows this paved road 0.25 mile after crossing the bridge—park anywhere in this area and follow the A.T. along the road. Turning off the road, the Trail steeply ascends Cove Mountain 0.5 mile to an old mountain road. Climb the road along the north side of the ridge, and cross a rockslide at mile 1.2. The Trail becomes a footpath again and reaches Hawk Rock at mile 1.5. From here, return to Duncannon by following the A.T. north."
