Fikes Creek: Forbes State Forest to Gibbon Glade Professional Review and Guide
"This tiny tributary of the Big Sandy is a feisty version of its big sister. Starting off small and steep, it careens down the valley at 200 feet per mile! Rocky, technical Class-4 rapids rule. Eddies are at a premium, especially at high water, and small groups are recommended. There are several Class-5 drops where choosing the wrong route could be fatal. Portaging through the thick rhododendron and greenbriar is a real workout. Dozens of other rapids require special care and good boat control."
