Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve

Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve Professional Review and Guide

"This hike follows the Nature Trail out of the parking area to the Swamp Creek Spur and the Swamp Creek Trail, east of the creek. Near the confluence of Swamp Creek’s east and west forks, the hike picks up the 4-mile Foothills Trail loop, which circumnavigates private land before rejoining Swamp Creek Trail west of the creek.

I learned about the Strawberry Hill Nature Center from Audubon Pennsylvania’s Susquehanna River Birding and Wildlife Trail Guide. It is a little-known gem of an area well worth the trip. Located just 9 miles from Gettysburg in a valley in the southeast section of South Mountain, the center and preserve are oriented toward the interests of nature lovers. It has more than 12 miles of trails that wind through mature forest and wetlands."
