Mountain Biking Pennsylvania
by Rob Ginieczki (Falcon Guides)
What a great beginner’s ride! It is short and mostly singletrack with two easy climbs and some really fun downhills. You can bail out at the 2.5-mile mark or cruise endless possibilities on other spur trails. But expert riders, fear not, for this is extreme singletrack speed! The terrain is mellow enough to crank hard on the uphills, yet the downhill with its twisted turns will offer more than enough gravitational pull. With other rides leaving from the same trailhead, this is a great warm-up loop to link with another trail. Highlights: beautiful woodland ride including a section through spruce and pine forest, a historic fire tower, and Kooser State Park amenities, including camping. Tread: a fine blend of rich woodland singletrack including a touch a rock and root. The pipeline and fire road sections are rarely traveled, so they too are singletrack in nature.
