This hike is part of the Delaware Canal State Park, which is essentially a 60-mile stretch between Easton and Bristol. Start in the Erwinna section, with your stepping-off point in Tinicum Park, which has areas for picnicking and a disc-golf course. As you enter the trail, you are entering a relic of a bygone era. The canal was built in the 1800s to provide a thoroughfare for the anthracite coal industry. As you are walking, try to imagine teams of mules trudging to pull boats through the canal. Restrooms are at Tinicum Park, but none on the trail.
