Binky Lee Preserve

Binky Lee Preserve Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"You begin this hike on a mowed pathway that runs between a wind-blown knoll on your left that was once a farmer’s field, and a grassy floodplain area on your right. You cut down off the knoll and enter a young floodplain forest that is so well maintained it reminds you of a park.

The trail then meanders through a mature hardwood forest, over a few streams, and into a pine plantation as you complete the circle through the period farm buildings and back to where you started."

"Binky Lee Preser ve is the perfect place to take a break from a busy schedule. With its meadows and woodlands, it offers a short, peaceful trek along former farmlands. The Natural Lands Trust manages the 112-acre natural area that offers about 4 miles of trails to explore. The land was donated to the trust in 1989 so that it could be preserved as open space. Since then, more than 10,000 trees have been planted to expand the forested area. Hunting is permitted here. If you are hiking in fall, be sure to wear orange or hike on Sunday, when there is no hunting permitted." Read more
