Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Now this is what the Appalachian Trail is supposed to feel like. This hike begins at the Lake Lenape trailhead, just out of the town of Delaware Water Gap. The drive to the parking area takes you past long-distance backpackers, kayakers, rafters, and others in a town that looks and feels outdoorsy.

You’ll likely encounter a number of backpackers on the trail, too. That’s all pretty cool, and pretty obvious. The history here—in terms of visible remnants of what once was—is more hidden."
