French Creek

French Creek Professional Review and Guide

"French Creek, the eastern Pennsylvania mecca for mountain bikers, is quite a rad park. One of only thirteen state parks that actually allows mountain bikes, French Creek has prided itself on offering a vast array of trails for off-road two-wheeled thrill seekers.

Located adjacent to the federal lands of Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, this 7,339-acre park is laced with prime mountain bike bliss. Highlights: technical singletrack, Hopewell Fire Tower, swimming pool, boating, fishing, disc golf, orienteering courses, camping, cabins, Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. Tread: washed-out trail with loose rocks, gravel, and dirt. A few sections run on old woods roads that are just as sketchy."

These trails are fun but if you really want to ride what French Creek has to offer then Race the "on the rocks at French Creek" race in the mid spring, part of the mid atlantic super series. It lets you go on all the trails that you otherwise would not be "allowed" on. And they, are where it really gets fun! It is very rocky but worth it.
