Valley Forge Ride

Valley Forge Ride Professional Review and Guide

"The words “Valley Forge” conjure up images of hardship and cold. Nowadays, however, Valley Forge is just as well-known as an oasis of countryside in the middle of an ocean of suburbs and office parks. If you live or work close by and are in the mood for a few hills, Valley Forge is the place to go.

The terrain is paved, with a few cobblestones around the memorial arch. The bicycle path is less hilly than the road route, but you can expect some amount of climbing either way. The bicycle path can have heavy pedestrian usage, particularly where there are stops along the Encampment Tour. The roads typically have moderate traffic, but the traffic can be heavy at times (particularly on PA 23). If you are not comfortable biking on PA 23, there is a paved bike path that parallels the road through most of its length in the park."
