McNeil Point

McNeil Point Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is a honey of a hike. Start out on Top Spur Trail #785, which climbs gradually 0.5 mile to a veritable highway interchange of trails. First you’ll reach the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT); turn right. At a four-way junction with Timberline Trail #600, the PCT, on the right, leads down 2.2 miles to the Ramona Falls trail (Hike 38, page 192).

To head for McNeil Point, follow Timberline Trail #600 uphill and to the left. But it’s well worth it to see the magnificent view from the open side (not actually the top) of Bald Mountain, a mere 0.4 mile the other way (the middle path) on Timberline Trail. Head out there to take in the sweeping view of Mount Hood and the Muddy Fork Sandy River."
