Here the river makes another transition in character as it enters bottomland terrain and vegetation not unlike the Willamette River basin. Surprisingly few houses are visible, considering the proximity of roads. The frequency of rapids decreases, but those that exist have nice standing waves. This section is known as Roseburg’s “beer and float” run. A warm summer day finds many Roseburg-area residents leisurely rafting or tubing down to River Forks Park. Character: valley.
