Clear Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Clear Lake is aptly named. Known for its deep, crystal-clear waters, the lake is the origin of the famed McKenzie River—arguably one of Oregon’s most pristine and beautiful rivers.

The lake itself is so clear that many of the ancient snags at the bottom are still visible more than 100 feet below the surface. Fed by numerous springs, the lake was originally created when the south end dammed up from the Sand Mountain lava ?ows more than 3,000 years ago."
