Washougal River: 10-Mile Bridge to above Washougal Professional Review and Guide
"This delightful run is close to Portland. It has several types of rapids. A class 4 boulder garden, called Big Eddy, is about 2.5 miles below the put-in. A short distance downstream is a steep class 3 rapids with a large hole midstream. Many of the rapids are wide and clean. At high flows, there are numerous surf waves and play holes. Cross the Columbia River in Portland and take Washington 14 east to the town of Washougal. At the town of Washougal, take Washougal River Road north and go upstream approximately 2.5 miles to the take-out at an unimproved boat ramp. The put-in is 7.3 miles farther upstream. Cross at the bridge, turn right, and proceed down a gravel road to a public access across the river from the store. There is an access point at a public area 1 mile above Big Eddy."
