Fish Lake

Fish Lake Professional Review and Guide

"At an elevation of only 3,370 feet, Fish Lake lies well below any other glacial lake in southern Oregon. The explanation is that Fish Lake was caused not by glaciers (although it occupies an ancient glacial valley), but by damming from a tremendous landslide off nearby Grasshopper Mountain, 6,000 years ago—the same landslide that created Cliff and Buckeye Lakes.

Fish Lake is accessible during any season but the absolute dead of winter. Highlight: A large, gorgeous, geologically unusual mountain lake in the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness."
