Wilson River Trail: Footbridge Trailhead to Jones Creek Trailhead Professional Review and Guide
"Hike along this gentle section of the Wilson River Trail, through the lush second-growth forest, next to the always beautiful Wilson River. Bands of Roosevelt elk are often seen along this trail. An early morning hike gives you the best chance to catch a glimpse of these magnificent animals as well as other wildlife. The trail parallels the highway, heading west for a short distance as you leave the Footbridge Trailhead. Soon the route turns right and descends some steps before crossing a footbridge over a beautiful deep pool in the Wilson River. Once across the bridge the trail climbs out of the riverbed and soon meets the Wilson River Trail. Turn right at the junction and head east on the Wilson River Trail. Soon the course begins to follow a long-abandoned roadbed. Beneath the mostly red-alder canopy, sword ferns cover much of the ground."
