If you are looking for a short run with continuous rapids, the North Fork Wilson River is a good choice. The flow is fast, so the run can be completed quickly on cold snowy days, but abundant play waves, holes, and eddies invite a longer stay. Boaters can extend the run by putting in farther upstream on either the West Fork or the North Fork. The North Fork is more interesting and has more gradient (estimated at 140 fpm). Scout the river from the road to decide whether you want to do this, and pay particular attention to logs, which are a major hazard in this narrow upper section. An interesting plunge drop about 0.3 mile above the confluence with the West Fork deserves a scout. The upstream landmark for this drop is a smaller plunge drop.
