Kings Mountain Trail Professional Review and Guide
"Hike via a challenging trail, with an average grade of nearly 20 percent, to the very summit of Kings Mountain. From the openings near the mountaintop, you can admire the surrounding view, which reaches from the fire peaks of the Cascade Range to the shore of the Pacific Ocean. During the spring and summer, wildflowers are an added attraction of this rewarding but difficult hike. From the Portland metro area, drive west on US 26 to the junction with OR 6. Leave the freeway and head west on OR 6 for approximately 27 miles, over the summit of the Coast Range and down to Kings Mountain Trailhead. The trailhead is on the right (north) side of the highway just east of (before reaching) Milepost 25. The trailhead is not marked or labeled on the DeLorme’s map. There is parking for several cars at the trailhead but no other facilities."
