This two-day cycling adventure tests your fitness and toughness as it passes through the remote wheat-farming country of Wasco County. The ride begins at White River Falls State Park and takes you into the scenic Deschutes River Canyon, where you’ll have the opportunity to see Native Americans fishing for salmon at roaring Sherars Falls. The route travels along the Deschutes River, passes through the small community of Maupin, and then takes you on an uphill odyssey through remote farming country to the small historic town of Shaniko. At Shaniko you can stay in the historic hotel and tour many other unique historic buildings. On day two you’ll complete the loop by riding through more open country and then soaring back to the Deschutes River Canyon and cranking out of the canyon back to your starting point.
