This campground rests on a small plateau above the John Day River. The walk-in sites are tucked into a juniper grove; the basic sites have gravel parking spurs and claim an open sagebrush flat that offers unobstructed river views. The folded tableland ridges, cliffs, and rims that shape the canyon contribute to the beauty. Below camp, hackberry and wild rose grow near the popular raft put-in/take-out site. Fishing, rafting, and swimming attract visitors to this region and campground.
