South Fork Smith River: South Fork Gorge to Bridge Professional Review and Guide
"This gorge is a bit longer than the Oregon Hole Gorge, but it still is not nearly long enough. Although the South Fork Road follows the river, the water is generally out of sight. With persistence and scrambling, it is possible to scout most of this stretch from the road; do this before committing yourself to the run. This is one of the most beautiful gorges anywhere, complete with all the classic gorge characteristics: steep blind drops, tough landings for scouting, and powerful turbulent water. This run is particularly difficult and potentially dangerous at high water levels. Character: gorge; clear water."
