Blue Canyon Trail 982 Professional Reviews and Guides
"Highlights include close-up views of Devil’s Peak and Mt. McLoughlin, the Sky Lakes’ two highest peaks. Smith Rock and Blue Rock aren’t bad either. An easy gravel road, except for the last mile which is narrow and a little bumpy as it climbs a rocky hill."

"The Blue Canyon area is exciting and accessible. Unfortunately, too many people feel that way. In summer, it tends to be crowded and horses kick up a lot of dust. September and October are better times to visit. There are fewer visitors and mosquitoes then, and you can enjoy the fall colors around Butte Falls (though there may be occasional mountain storms). Highlights: A beautiful, easy, hike past numerous lakes. Magnificent trailhead drive."

Very nice hike, we went as far as Island lake, mosquitoes were definitely out but with some good repelant it was bareable. Blue lake was the big hit, swimming was great, did some snorkeling, it is a very deep lake.
