This trail is on top of Santiam Pass, 30 miles west of Sisters in Central Oregon. From the south end of the Hoodoo Ski Bowl parking lot, pass by the maintenance shops and head for the pass between Hayrick and Hoodoo buttes. Hayrick is the butte with the basalt cliffs. Hoodoo Butte has a ski lift to the top. A half-mile up the road, a narrow trail leads to the right and follows the bottom of the valley to the pass between the buttes. The tread is 10.5 miles dirt/gravel road, 1.2 miles paved road, 2.7 miles singletrack. The number of trails and roads can be confusing; get the recommended maps. If you have time, explore some of the intersecting cross-country ski trails. The blue diamonds mark the ski trails and the signs give directions back to the sno-park. Some of the roads and trails are used by motorcycles and ORV's; stay out of their way. Important Note: Do not ride on the Pacific Crest Trail.
