Lovely ponderosa pines and an aspen grove create a soothing setting for your stay. There are both pull-through and back-in gravel parking spurs. Spring Trail begins near the campground entrance and leads 0.25 mile through mixed woods and across a spring to a lava outcrop. You can scramble to the top of the outcrop for a new perspective on the area or follow an old jeep trail away from the site to extend your journey. The area is particularly appealing in early October, when the aspens turn yellow and jet-black ravens pass between the trees. Birding is popular here.
