Cache Creek Professional Review and Guide
"The steep eastern face of Mt. Washington is familiar to countless thousands of drivers who have admired this pointed mountain from the popular viewpoint on U.S. Highway 20 above Suttle Lake. Almost none of those camera-toting tourists, however, have attempted to get a closer look at this impressive peak. This is understandable, since no official trail reaches the scenic, sloping meadows beneath the mountain’s eastern cliffs. But adventuresome hikers who are willing to seek out a sketchy climber’s trail can access this area and be rewarded with a night in one of the most impressive locations in central Oregon. Make this trip early in the summer, however, since Cache Creek (the only source of water) may dry up by late summer."
