Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge

Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge Professional Review and Guide

"Before the establishment of the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge in 1992, nearly all the land that the refuge now encompasses was farmed. The portion of the refuge where this hike is located was basically a dairy farm, with crops grown mostly to feed the cows.

The bottomlands here once grew some really beautiful corn, some of it 12 and 13 feet tall. Much of the refuge land, with the help of the refuge staff, is now reverting to the way it was before it was touched by the plow."

Pretty boring, saw one hawk. Should be mentioned that dogs are not allowed nor is running the trail. The longer trail is closed October to May.
