North Fork Salmonberry River

North Fork Salmonberry River Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Although the access road is rough and challenging, this hike into a remote canyon in the rain forests of Oregon’s Coast Range is a real winner. The clear North Fork Salmonberry River is not only beautiful to look at but it is an important spawning stream for runs of salmon and steelhead. In fact, at a small falls along the trail from mid-March to mid-May, you can often observe these magnificent fish leaping over the falls on their way upstream. Added to the usual treats of a lovely, moss-draped forest and a pretty stream to camp beside, this wildlife show makes spring the best time to visit this little-known retreat."
